Human Rights Day- 2015

On Human Rights Day, let us recommit to guaranteeing the fundamental freedoms and protecting the human rights of all.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Hi everyone! I guess the Human Rights Day was indeed a great day to empower the promotion of equality between all. However, I’m quite certain that half of the readers reading this article  may not have even heard of the day. Well, frankly it was not until I was doing some random web surfing that I discovered about this special day! The interesting article was posted by the Columbia University Students for Human Rights in their facebook page. I do encourage everyone reading this article to go on and read it. It is truly amazing how people around the world including undergrad students themselves are fighting for the rights of people. After all it would be fantastic to live in a world where everyone is treated equally without any type of discrimination. I totally admired the theme for the Human Rights day for this year being: “Our Rights. Our Freedoms. Always.”  Partly because it’s catchy and partly because this itself speaks of all that we need to fight for and achieve in the years to come.

Still we all need to focus on practicing the values of keeping in tact with the freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear, every single day. Let’s just make the 10th of December 2015, the day that reminds us all of the millions of people facing oppression, who might right now be merely living in the hope of a better future- a free world.
